Fushigi Yugi Genbu Kaiden

Fushigi Yugi Genbu Kaiden is the pregeul to Yuu Watase best selling series Fushigi Yugi. It basically tells the story of the very first priestess of “The Universe of the Four Gods” book. The Priestess of Genbu Takiko Okuda.

The story takes place in Morioka Japan in 1923. Takiko’s father is a hardcore writer who spends all his time on his books and leaves the family for months at a time to finish his works. Takiko’s mother falls ill of tuberculosis during this time. Soon after her father returns with his finished translation of the ancient Chinese document of the universe of the four gods. Takiko tries to destroy his preiceous translation however ends up getting sucked into the book, becoming the very first priestess of Genbu in a tale to find the seven celestial warriors to summon Genbu and save the nation Bei Jia from collapse and get her wishes.

I just love Fushigi yugi so when I found out that Watase was amking the prequel I just had to buy it and after Genbu is finished she will be moving on to the Byakko Kaiden! >w<

Ah you’re talking about Fushigi Yugi The Mysterious play.
Genbu Kaiden is only a manga right now. && the even though the story is similar, they are VERY different.

XD The story in the first post is the Genbu Kaiden story summed up.
In the Original Fushigi Yugi (Mysterious play) we already are told what is going to happen to Takiko however Yuu watase had no intention at first of doing the other 2 priestesses of the Universe of the Four Gods book.
They were Gebnu and Byakko.
However she is finally doing the stroies which has me and some other Fushigi Yugi fans going crazy!!!
I can't wait for the next volumes!!!!
